Mary Deligianni, head of our data protection and cybersecurity practice, participated as a panelist at the Cyber Insurance & Incident Response Conference organized by Ethos Events on November 5, 2019. Mary had the opportunity to discuss about the obligations of organisations arising from security incidents under the GDPR, the NIS Directive and banking and telecom legislation and to exchange views on the issue of insurability of GDPR and other administrative fines.

Mary Deligianni, head of our data protection and cybersecurity practice, participated as a speaker and as a panelist at the 4th Data Privacy & Protection Conference, which took place in Athens on 25 June 2019. In her presentation, Mary had the chance to speak about the greatest challenges that companies faced in their effort to comply with the GDPR, the role of the European and national data protection authorities and the forthcoming legislative and regulatory developments in the area of data protection.

The conference, which is widely recognized as the premier global forum on privacy and data protection, provides a unique opportunity for privacy lawyers to interact and exchange opinions with the data protection authorities, IT experts and businesses from around the globe.

With less than a week left for the entry of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into effect, it is imperative that businesses understand the real dimensions of the GDPR for them and act accordingly. Apart from the extensive obligations and heavy fines that it imposes, GDPR may be seen not only as another layer of the overall compliance, but also as an opportunity to create a comparative advantage over competitors.
Mary Deligianni, senior associate who specialises in data protection and technology law, made a presentation in the 5th Information Security Conference, which was held on 15 February 2018. Mary dealt with the management of data breaches, including not only the reporting obligations arising from the GDPR, but also other practical issues, such as the contents of a Data Breach Response Plan, the communication of the incident to the public and the need for cyber insurance.
Takis Kakouris, partner, who specialises in data protection and privacy, participated as a panelist in the Law Forum on Data Protection & Privacy, which was held on February 17, 2017 with great success at Hotel NJV Athens Plaza and was organised by Palladian Conferences. Takis Kakouris sat at the panel for cloud computing and presented the legal aspects thereof from a data protection perspective.
