On 29 January 2018, Christina Papanikolopoulou participated in the 1st Annual Investors’ Conference on Greek and Cypriot NPLs launched by the International Management Network, organiser of the annual global ABS conference, a leading forum for structured finance and assetbacked securities transactions. Christina moderated a panel discussing the Role of Securitisation in NPL resolution. The conference had significant turnout from the full spectrum of market players, bringing together bank sellers, loan investors and key government entities establishing the NPL resolution framework.
Christina emphasised the merits of using securitisation either as technology or as a product in the context of investments in NPL portfolios as opposed to the recent Greek legal framework on outright NPL sales, taking in any case into account the objectives and disposal rationale of each portfolio sale.
