Tax, VAT, Customs
Hara Strati is a member of our tax practice. She was admitted to the Athens Bar in 2007 and joined our firm in 2006.
Hara specializes in indirect taxation and customs law. She has extensive experience in VAT, stamp duty and other indirect tax issues, as well as in customs and excise duty matters. She regularly advises international and domestic clients on cross-border transactions relating to international trade or to the provision of services. She has worked with multinational clients active among others, in the energy, pharmaceutical and insurance sector, advising them on a wide range of VAT and customs issues. Furthermore, Hara has extensive experience in VAT and customs litigation and has handled numerous disputes relating to such matters before the Administrative Courts of First and Second Instance (Court of Appeals) and the Supreme Administrative Court.
Hara has published articles in relation to VAT and customs matters in international tax and customs journals, such as “Post clearance amendment of customs declarations and repayment of customs duties and VAT in the context of EU law” (World Customs Journal, March 2018), “Greece: Import VAT deferral scheme and application of reverse charge mechanism” (Tax Planning International – Indirect Taxes, Bloomberg BNA, July 2013) and “New VAT warehousing scheme for non-EU goods” (Tax Planning International – Indirect Taxes, Bloomberg BNA, September 2013). Furthermore, Hara is a permanent contributor of the “VAT Lawlink” database of IBFD and of Bloomberg BNA Guide to Indirect Taxation (VAT/GST).
Hara is admitted before the Supreme Administrative Court and works in Greek and English.
