The article examines the legal nature of the new voluntary contribution agreement signed between the Greek Government and the Union of Greek ship-owners on 27.02.2019 (ratified by article 56 of Law 4607/2019). It presents the voluntary contribution in the context of the current framework governing shipping taxation (in particular Law 27/1975), while highlighting matters connected directly or indirectly with the application of the new agreement.
