GAIAOSE S.A. has recently announced the launch of an international tender procedure for the development of the Thriasian Freight Transport Centre.
The wider area of the Thriasian Plain facilities park intended for the development of the Freight Transport Centre includes the freight classification and transshipment yard, the area of which is approximately 1,450,000 sq. m. -owned by OSE S.A.- and an area of 588,000 sq. m. -owned by GAIAOSE S.A.-, allowing for the construction of approximately 235,000 sq. m. of covered areas. The plot is linked to all major motorways of Attica, the national rail network and to the commercial port of Piraeus (Neo Ikonio).
The strategic goal of GAIAOSE S.A. is the creation of a Freight Transport Centre of international reach, which will contribute in increasing the rail transport of freight and it will make the country a key gate for the transport of goods in the inter-European transport networks.
The project will be realized through a concession agreement. The contractor who will be awarded the concession will be required to establish an SPV, which will undertake the design, construction, financing, operation, maintenance and exploitation of the combined Freight Transport Centre for 50 years to be constructed, by paying at the same time a financial consideration to GAIAOSE S.A.
It is noted that the award criterion will be exclusively the most cost-effective offer.
The contract notice and the draft concession agreement are available to the interested parties at the offices of GAIAOSE S.A. until Friday, 18 December 2015 and the closing date for the submission of binding offers is Thursday, 31 March 2016, until 16:00 hours.
