We work closely with our clients for setting up and running energy projects, be it in relation to legal structuring, construction and operations issue, due diligence in acquisitions and all commercial, regulatory and tax aspects relating to such projects.
Our experience includes privatisations of state-owned energy companies and regulatory advisory support to EU Organisations and Regulatory Authorities. The Electricity Industry
Our expertise in the electricity industry covers the following areas:
- Thermal and renewable generation
We support new entrants in the renewable generation sector (wind and photovoltaics) in all their needs such as in project development, in tender procedures, in setting up new power plants, in implementing acquisitions of renewables portfolios, in financing and in receiving advice on the regulatory background, such as licensing, tariffs, grid connection and PPAs and on state subsidies. We also negotiate regularly leasing, EPC and Construction contracts and conduct due diligence in relation to renewable acquisitions.
- Regulatory Structures, Codes and liberalisation
We have extensive experience in regulatory matters, connected with the development of liberalised energy markets. This experience extends to advising on standard grid agreements, on all types of licences, on liberalisation laws and to code drafting.
- Supply, import/export and trading
We regularly advise potential new entrants to the supply market on all aspects of the supply regulation, on matters pertaining to import and export codes and on processes and electricity trading. We prepare applications for supply licences and assist clients in the negotiation of standard supply contracts with their customers.
The Gas Industry
Our team advises on the regulatory market of natural gas in Greece and on import/export, trade, supply and transportation of gas issues. Our in-depth experience covers privatizations in the gas sector as well as gas pipeline construction, acquisition and operation matters.
The Oil Industry
Our firm has one of the largest and most experienced oil and gas practices in Greece and is at the forefront of developments such as in the area of privatizations, oil pipeline projects and hydrocarbon exploration. Three of our senior partners were former in-house counsels to oil companies. We advise oil companies on a regular basis and on a wide array of legal and tax issues. Our work includes advising on restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, refining and refinery agreements, trading and marketing prerequisites, financing, energy asset deals, liberalisation, privatisations, environmental law, competition law, shipping and transportation arrangements, tax and customs compliance.
